The fastest way to book or change a ride is to call dispatch at (703) 304-7889. Someone answers 24 hours a day, seven days a week, holidays included, because hospitals discharge patients at 9pm on a Sunday and dialysis chairs do not wait.

What to have ready when you call

A booking takes about three minutes if you have these in front of you. It takes considerably longer if you don’t.

• The rider’s full name and date of birth
• Pickup address, including apartment or room number, and the number of steps at the door
• Drop-off address and the name of the facility, clinic or unit
• Appointment time, and roughly how long the appointment will run if you need a return trip
• Level of service needed: ambulatory, wheelchair, stretcher or bariatric
• Whether the rider uses their own wheelchair or power scooter, or needs to borrow one of ours
• How the trip is being paid for, and any broker or case manager involved

If you are not sure which level of service applies, describe the rider’s situation and our dispatchers will tell you. Getting this right is the difference between a smooth pickup and a driver arriving in the wrong vehicle.

When you will hear back

Every booking gets a confirmation call or text from our automated system within two hours. If two hours pass and you have heard nothing, call or email us — assume the reservation did not land rather than assume it did.

We need a minimum of three hours’ notice for a same-day request or a discharge, and we can cover most of them inside that window. Booking 24 hours ahead guarantees availability.

Where we operate

H&M Transport is based in Gainesville, Virginia and runs daily throughout Northern Virginia, Washington DC and the Maryland suburbs. We hold Virginia DMV Certificate #524 and WMATC authority 3449, which is what lets us cross into the District and Maryland rather than stopping at the county line.

We also run long-distance trips well beyond that footprint, including moves between states.

This is non-emergency transportation. We are not an ambulance service, we do not provide medical care on board, and we cannot take anyone to an emergency room. If this is a medical emergency, call 911.
